01. Manifestations of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7-10)
1 Corinthians 12:7 manifestation is φανέρωσις (phanerosis), to make known, and only found 2x ( Corinthians 12:7 Corinthians 4:2).
**
Spirit** is πνεῦμα (ĕuma), means breath or spirit.

given is δίδωμι (ōmi), *hath been given*.
**
profit withal** is συμφέρω (ĕrō)ún, togetherérō, to bring, and here in context, it means to bring together for an advantage or profit.

• Paul writes to the Corinthian assembly that spiritual gifts are available to all.

• **1 Corinthians 12:8 by the Spirit** shows us that this is supernatural.

• Paul now gives the Corinthian assembly a list of 9 manifestation gifts of the Spirit:

*******01. The word of wisdom*
the word **(λόγος (ŏgŏs), is words that are spoken) of wisdom (σοφία (ŏphia)).

This is the gift of being able to speak wisely the words needed in certain situations.

*********02. The word of knowledge*
knowledge** is γνῶσις (ōsis), knowledge.

• The supernatural gift of knowledge is only obtained through direct revelation from God.

*03. The gift of faith** ***1 Corinthians 12:9
faith** is πίστις (pistis), Faith.

The supernatural gift of faith is the ability to continue when hard times ensue.

*********04. The gifts of healing*
gifts *is χάρισμα (charisma), from χάρις (charis), grace*, thus it means a gift of grace (1 Corinthians 12:4). The suffix --ma, indicates the result of grace.

• χάρις (charis), is needed for the free gift of χάρισμα (charisma) to be properly exercised.

healing is ἴαμα (iama), *full and complete healing*, and found only 3x in 3vss (1 Corinthians 12:9; 1 Corinthians 12:28; 1 Corinthians 12:30).

• This supernatural gift is found in the plural, as there are different ways of healing (Matt 10:8).

*****05. The working of miracles** ***1 Corinthians 12:10
working** is ἐνέργημα (ĕnĕrgēma), from en, inérgō, to work, thus it means to be actively working (1 Corinthians 12:6).

• Here it is used to show the Holy Ghost working through an individual.

miracles are δύναμις (dunamis), *power*.

• The working of miracles is the event that supersedes the laws of nature.

*****06. The Gift of prophecy*
• The gift of prophecy is the prediction of an event in the future under divine influence (2 Peter 1:20--21).

*******07. The Gift of discerning of spirits*
discerning** is διάκρισις (diakrisis)á, denoting separationínō, to distinguish, decide, judge, thus it means to discriminate, to judge or to doubt. Found 3x in 3vss (Romans 14:1; Hebrews 5:14).

• πνεῦμα (ĕuma), means breath or spirit, it implies that there is life, thus it can also be used by a person who is teaching or prophesying (Acts 5:3; 1 John 4:1-6).

• Paul writes about judging those who prophesy in 1 Corinthians 14:29. Jesus talks about it in discerning the spirits (Revelation 2:2).

• This gift is the supernatural ability to know immediately when one is a false teacher.

*****08. The Gift of tongues*
tongues *are γλῶσσα (glossa), Tongue, ethnic languages*.

• This gift is found in the plural, as the gift of tongues is the supernatural ability to speak a foreign language without any prior knowledge of it.

*********09. The Gift of interpretation of tongues*
interpretation** is ἑρμηνεία (ĕrmēnĕia), Interpretation, or explanation. Found only 2x in the Greek Scriptures (1 Corinthians 14:26)

• The gift of interpretation of tongues is the ability to understand the foreign language that is being spoken by someone without any prior knowledge of it.

• When it comes to spiritual gifts, Paul gives us some insight in 1 Corinthians 13:2; 1 Corinthians 13:8--10; 1 Corinthians 13:13; 1 Corinthians 14:26--33.
